Governor General congratulates CODE on 50 years of excellence

Ottawa, January 6, 2009 –
Ottawa-based international organization CODE is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2009. CODE has been empowering children throughout the developing world to learn for five decades.
“I commend all of you on this impressive milestone,” writes Governor General Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, CODE’s honourary patron.
“Over the past five decades, CODE staff members and overseas partners have been working in developing countries around the world, bringing the gifts of literacy and education to those who need it most. Their work … [is]vital to breaking down the barriers of ignorance and bringing all of humanity together.”
