CODE, Canada’s international literacy agency for children, has been working with partners to bring tangible education results to the developing world for nearly 50 years. CODE builds the bridge of literacy by helping create national publishing industries, supporting the professional development of teachers, librarians, authors and publishers, as well as building library collections through local and donated North American books. CODE works with partners in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Mali, Senegal, Ghana and Guyana to provide resources for learning, promote awareness and understanding, and encourage self-reliance.
